captureCommerzbank has launched the latest issue of its newsletter, FI.News. The biannual publication offers a range of insights from the bank’s Financial Institutions experts, along with all the latest news, banking awards, people moves, and upcoming events.

As the transaction banking world gears up for the 2016 SIBOS conference in Geneva, Dr Bernd Laber, Divisional Board Member, Transaction Services and Financial Institutions, sets out the bank’s ongoing commitment to financing trade in what is an increasingly challenging and “transformative” financial landscape.

Transformation, in fact, is a major theme of the issue, which explores the events and trends likely to overhaul the banking environment in years to come – including a targeted interview on the potential effects of Brexit on Asian trade, an article on the application of revolutionary blockchain technology to trade finance, and an overview of the ongoing digitalisation of payments.

Offering an overview of key economic and trading developments across the world, this edition discusses how Brazil and India can each unlock the potential of the BRICS economies. the issue notes that while the economies of Sub-Saharan Africa have been hit hard by low prices for their raw material exports, “silver linings” remain. And the edition suggests that Chile’s economy can return to growth supported by global banking partnerships.

The issue also delves into the topic of sustainability, highlighting Ruediger Geis (Head, Product Management Trade) and Ruediger Senft’s (Head of Corporate Sustainability) recent interview with The Banker on Commerzbank’s approach to financing sustainable trade.
